La Torretta
It's rare to find a place that's not only romantic but also historic and truly one of a kind. “La Torretta” is a medieval tower with a huge private garden and olive trees and one of the three only towers left in the village. Over the last few years, the historic building has been refurbished in order to design a space that is both historic and luxurious, creating an intimate space that is ideal for couples who are looking for a different kind of experience.

The space
La Torretta is a private medieval tower in the historic center of San Quirico d’Orcia, with four floors entirely to yourself – and all the character that comes with staying in a building that has stood here for centuries.
Each floor is home to a different space, including a bedroom with a king-size bed, two separate living areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and a bathroom connected to one of the living rooms. The interiors combine traditional Tuscan antiques with carefully chosen comforts, from high-quality bed linen and bathroom products to air conditioning and heating throughout the tower.
Outside, you’ll find something particularly rare for a home in the middle of a Tuscan village: your own large private garden, dotted with olive trees and with plenty of space to sit outside, enjoy a glass of wine, or simply slow down for a while.
La Torretta also makes exploring the Val d’Orcia by car wonderfully easy. A private parking space is available directly outside the property, with additional free public parking nearby.
One thing worth knowing before you arrive: this really is a medieval tower. The four floors are connected by relatively steep stairs, which are part of its original character but may not be suitable for everyone.
The neighbourhood
La Torretta puts you right in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape of rolling hills, cypress-lined roads, vineyards, olive groves, and medieval villages. Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni and some of our favourite corners of the valley are all within easy reach, making San Quirico a wonderful base from which to explore the area.
But one of the things we love most about La Torretta is San Quirico itself.
Despite its location in the middle of one of Tuscany’s most beautiful and visited regions, San Quirico still feels like a real village. Step outside the tower and you can walk to the bakery in the morning, stop for a coffee at the bar, wander through the historic center, have an aperitivo, and choose from several restaurants for dinner – all without getting back into the car.
It’s lively enough to have everything you need, yet small and relaxed enough that after a few days, you may already start to feel a little like a local.
